Access Control with Biometric Identification
Biometric identifiers are currently the most accurate and secure identification systems in the world. It is very difficult—if not impossible—to abuse them, as our bodies are unique, so in many ways it is practical to choose this for access control systems.
The main features of biometric scanners are:
- No separate identification device is required. Because a part or all of our body is identified, there is no need to be afraid of leaving the card or tag.
- Convenient and easy to use.
- There is no need to be afraid of bacteria because of the contactless identification.
- For touch identification, due to the cleanable optical lenses, hygiene is easily maintained.
- The system decides almost immediately whether to allow entrance.
- A device can store an almost unlimited number of people.
- It is not necessary to connect to a PC, but in most cases it is worthwhile (eg if you also have a time recording system or if you want to download the data).
- A separate card can be used in case of an emergency.
- The “Easy Login” feature allows anyone to enter without authentication, such as during negotiations or other events.
Biometric identification and GDPR
It is a misconception that biometric identification does not comply with GDPR laws. Because the device does not take images during sampling, but stores the person as plain numbers (vectorially), it is impossible to restore the original fingerprint, iris, or handprint from it. The biometric scanner is therefore an accepted and legal form of identification.
